Honduras Preparatory Meeting

!Buenas tardes! Just a reminder...On Tuesday, January 27th at 2:30, the Honduras Work Team will have a meeting in room 202. Agenda items include presentations, a Spanish tutorial from the proficient speakers in our group, fund raising updates and packing for the trip.

Fundraising Continues

As our service project trip to Honduras quickly approaches, we are still fundraising to cover the cost of materials for the project we will complete while at El Hogar de Amor y Esperanza (The Home of Love and Hope).

In the next week we will run two school fundraisers to help with our trip:

"Change the World!" Students and faculty can support the Honduras Service Project by donating their spare change after purchasing lunch. Collection cans are located at cash registers in the cafeteria.

Hat Day for Honduras. Students can wear their favorite hat to school on Tuesday, January 27th and donate $1 to the Honduran work team as they enter the building.

If you are an RMHS student or faculty member please consider participating in these fundraisers to help defer the costs of our trip and El Hogar project.

One Month to Go!

In four weeks from today the RMHS team of fifteen students and teachers will head to the El Hogar school and orphanage in Tegucigalpa, Honduras for a six day service learning trip.

Our team has been busy fundraising, researching, and reading to prepare. At our next meeting team members will present their research on subjects related to Honduras including: religion, politics, geography, climate, and poverty. We will also engage in a book discussion of Don't Be Afraid Gringo: A Honduran Woman Speaks from the Heart: The Story of Elvia Alvarado.
