Welcome to Miami!

The first leg of our journey to Tegucigalpa, Honduras is complete! Tonight we stay over in Miami and fly out to Tegucigalpa in the morning. The team is in great spirits; we are all very anxious to get to El Hogar.

The shuttle van we took from the airport to our hotel was packed with luggage. Everyone had their personal item of luggage and another nearly 50 pound bag of supplies for the children at El Hogar. Our most interesting luggage item, weighing in at over 40 pounds, was a small suitcase stuffed entirely with toothpaste. When Emmy lifted it on to the scale she and Ms. Lynn had a chuckle as they thought of its contents. The busy worker then questioned what was inside and Emmy declared matter of factly, "toothpaste." The worker was dumbfounded. "Toothpaste?" he said with disbelief, but then continued to check Emmy in. The team had a good laugh as we wondered what must have been going through his head. Are we all prone to cavities? Super-hygenic? Planning to sell Crest on the black market? Needless to say, with toothpaste a key item on the list of supplies (aka "suppys") needed at El Hogar, we are most thankful for all of the donations we received.

Buenas Noches from the RMHS work team!

  1. Good Morning! So great to see your faces. You are now my desktop! Enlarging the picture I could see the looks from the boy and man on your right. With those big smiles and all that toothpaste, they must really have some questions!
